When I started reading the first poem I did so with the intent of stopping when I finished and maybe reading the rest over the course of a week, but the book had other plans. From the beginning, I was drawn in by the author’s deeply personal and wholly honest expressions of emotion, which are so human that you can’t help but feel connections to your own life and struggles. The rejection of “traditional” poetic form suits the work extremely well, allowing the poems to simultaneously be accessible and full of meaning while ringing with a truth that we all have within us. Micah creates beautiful imagery that is well written and eloquent. He pours out his soul to share with others, and his poetry is such an honest and heartfelt journey.
Confessional, accessible and moving. With nature-based imagery throughout, the author's connection to the forest and the woods from which he came is clear, bringing a sense of wonder and openness; like being on the shores of big water or at the top of a mountain.
